a New Breed of Monkey are Matt Burke (vocals/rhythm guitar), Jamie Robinson (lead guitar), Joe Burke (bass guitar) and Jordan Watson (drums).
a New Breed of Monkey are an up-coming Indie band playing post-punk in the vein of Joy Division/Killing Joke/Clash.
The band hail from the Burnley area, in East Lancashire and have played major venues such as The Cavern Club (Liverpool), ULU (London), The Shed (Leicester), Hope & Anchor (Islington), Storm (Leicester Square), Night & Day (Manchester), Jabez Clegg (Manchester), Late Room (Manchester), Packhorse (Leeds), The Vine (Leeds) and many more minor venues and pubs. They have songs available to download from iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody and you can hear more of their music and watch film clips on the internet at their website www.anewbreedofmonkey.co.uk or www.myspace.com/anewbreedofmonkeyofficial.
Formed in 2004 the band have gone from strength to strength, and their performances have been developed into a very professional show. They have attracted a ’live’ following in East Lancashire who regularly travel to gigs (often taking a 49 seat coach on long distance trips), an online following of over 1100 and counting (from around the world), as well as interest from the media, recording and management companies.
a New Breed of Monkey now need the opportunity that only a Record Company can offer… to get their music distributed and to take their music on tour. If you are interested in seeing the band perform, then we will be happy to arrange a showcase gig somewhere in London. And if there is anything other which you require from the band in order for you to assess their potential further, just let us know and we will arrange it.
