Saturday night in Burnley town centre is a strange mix of clubbers, drunks, and in one particular venue, music enthusiasts. It's called Sanctuary rock bar and covers three floors of an historic building.
The middle floor is fast becoming 'the' best venue in Burnley and is usually graced by metal/thrash bands. Not last night!
First off, the Fix have the potential to become a fine band. They are young, and are undoubtedly three talented individals. As they develop they will become tighter as a band and if they continue to write their own stuff with the qualities they have put into the three or four songs in their catalogue so far, then they will become one of the top bands in the area. For now, the covers they included in their set were creditable.
We enjoyed playing to the fifty or sixty souls who had ventured upstairs at 11pm, many of them seeing the band for the first time, and inevitably a number of the faithful were also there. Fortunately no problems with Joe's finger so no worries there. Thanks to all who came, thanks to those who collected a CD (hope you enjoy it) and thanks to the venue for a great night.
Tonight we're off to Rishton, a village near Blackburn, to The Roebuck. We've never gigged there before and hopefully (being a Sunday) someone will venture down to their local to catch a live band. Fingers crossed, anyway.
