Had a great Christmas? Have a better New Year...
As many of you already know, 2008 has been hotter than a hell whores nipple for us - with shows in Accrington, Bacup, Birmingham, Blackburn, Blackpool, Burnley, Brixton, Colne, Leeds, Lewisham, Manchester, Nelson, Salford, and Warrington. The revered venues we played included The Attic, Jamm Club, Sanctuary, Dry Bar, Jabez Clegg, Night & Day, Academy, Carling Academy, and The Ritz, as well as many pubs and clubs throughout the year. We ran coaches to many of them and, as usual, you took us up on it and came with us! For that, we are humbly grateful. Because of your support we managed to worm our way into the final 14 bands nationally in Surface Unsigned 08 and on the back of that success we can already boast some high profile gigs in the first quarter of the coming year. Along the way we met and played alongside some great people including Block Party, Bonehead, Mike Joyce, and many others too numerous to mention.
You share in our successes. Without you we wouldn't be playing these places with these people.
Predictions for 2009
Here's the fun bit! Just click over to our website www.anewbreedofmonkey.co.uk and click through to the Forums.
You can post your predictions for aNBoM there, and interact with other guests, fans, followers and visitors to foretell the future during 2009. What's more, we're gonna leave them all there for the whole year so that if any of them come true you can look back and say 'I told you so!'. Will we play Glastonbury? Any other festivals? Will we get signed? Split up? Tour? Tell us what YOU think!
Resolutions 2009
We were a bit slow releasing the new CD in 2008. And it's still not finally ready - artwork has been the problem. We promise to release this new CD by the end of January. The new songs are all available to download already (Amazon MP3, Rhapsody, iTunes etc) so if you want em, go get em!
If we don't get signed next year, we will further develop our own label (Downhill Records) and become fully independant. Maybe we'll even release stuff for other bands.
We will further develop the T:Party gigs in Burnley and Accrington. Maybe we'll take them further afield, and hopefully we'll get involved with some promoter who can help further develop the concept.
We WILL continue to play the smaller pub gigs in our home town throughout 2009, even though we will be playing bigger venues nationally. There may not be as many - but they will still form part of the plan.
There will be new songs, and new recordings in 2009.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Have a buzzin New Years Eve party, wherever you happen to be! Do everything to excess... TWICE! And don't take risks with anything - make sure you know what it is and where it came from...
See you all in 2009!
